Which 'learn German' DVD is the best?
If you are looking for a learn German DVD then you want to learn this popular language, but are there any out there that can help you?
We looked at your best options and found that most of the learn German DVD courses out there are aimed at kids, they are very basic and just supposed to give you a few words to learn and some basic concepts, plus lots of them had bad reviews.
Books to teach you this language are ok, you can get some good ones and they would be a good idea to help supplement your learning when you are commuting etc, but then you lose the ability to hear the words you are learning which is crucial so you know how to pronounce them. So instead we come to software, this seems to be the best way to help you learn German.
With software you get video, audio and text elements to help you learn the language as swiftly as possible. We found two really good options, of course you have the Rosetta Stone course which is no real surprise, they make top quality courses and it has some excellent reviews, but the second one is a bit different, it is a lot cheaper and looks like a good course with good reviews.
Check out the details for both courses below:

Rosetta Stone German Edition
Rosetta Stone are currently the leaders in the language learning market, they have invested a lot of money into their software and have years of experience to draw on when they make their courses, so it is no wonder this is one of the top selling German courses on Amazon.com.
This course gets you to start off by learning the words for certain every day objects and places etc, then you slowly start to build that up into making sentences. The aim is to get you to learn your second language the same way you did your first one, by associating words with images and building up your vocabularly as you go along and are exposed to different images and situations, rather than trying to memorise lists of words.
There are different 'games' in the system that help you learn to speak, write, read and listen to the language, and it also uses speech recognition to listen to you as you speak and help you get the pronunciation right.
In each course you get the software, a user guide, a microphone headset for the speaking parts, and audio files for you to listen to on an mp3 player or in the car etc as extra learning with each lesson.
The reviews on Amazon.com are excellent (apart from one person who had a problem with the CD) which is why this is our top choice, but this course is extremely comprehensive so it is not cheap, coming in at around $200 (which is still a lot cheaper than lessons). There are 5 levels to work through, most people just buy level 1 which you can get from here, or you can save money by buying levels 1-3 together here, or levels 1-5 together here.

Instant Immersion German Deluxe v3.0
This German course was a bit of a shock, mainly due to the price, at the moment you can get it for 68% off on Amazon.com which takes it right down to about $16, which for a detailed course like this is a bargain!
For that price I wasn't expecting much when I looked at this course, I expected it to be just a small course with some basic lessons in, but in fact it has over 300 hours of instruction, and it even has speech recognition like in the Rosetta Stone course.
It has 26 games to help you learn, along with audio files to listen to in the car or on your mp3 player just like with the other course, but this one also has an interactive DVD quiz you can play on any DVD player AND there is a bonus of a game you can play where you have to follow clues in German to solve a mystery, a fun way to put your new language skills to the test!
So why isn't this our top pick? Well just because people have mentioned it is a bit too complex for someone who has just started learning the language to use. So if you already know a bit of German then this is a bargain and grab it, but if you are totally new to the language then you would probably be better off with the Rosetta Stone course.
This course has different levels too, about 3 in total, use the link below to check out the first level:
